| IDLEWILD WHITE LABRADOR NURSERY |
New Additions
Currently, we have one white male and one cream female available from the Fall litters.
Next litters available for deposit will be Lucy/River (Choctaw labs), and Pearl/Russo, we expect these breedings to take place in the next three weeks.
Week of August 30 update:
All puppies have had their dew claws removed, which is not fun, but we think it makes for less accidents/potential problems down the road! All puppies are in air-conditioned comfort, although they like it warm, between 75-78 degrees for the first two weeks. Puppies this young cannot make their own body heat, so mom and the heating pads help with that! The pups are in "activated sleep" most of the time, which is a twitching, jerking sleep that exercises their muscles. They can crawl to mom, and they pile on each other to sleep. Their days consist of periods of about 20 minutes of nursing, then a nap! Eyes and ears are closed. They all had their nails clipped for the first time over the weekend. All are doing well; Trendy's pups are a bit on the fatty side, we may have to slow them down a little. Emerson's and Amber's seem right on target for weight. The three mother's now eat Diamond Naturals Large Breed Puppy formula, mixed with "Show Stopper" granules, and Sea-Pet Fish oil, along with one Nu-Vet tablet per day.We feel that this regimen makes for better retention of coat, bright eyes, ample milk, and keeps muscle tone at optimum levels, and gets the pups out to the best start possible.
