Below is a little "light reading" about our Health Guarantee, Food Recommendations, and general Labrador information.

Please know that great Labrador breeders are few and far between! Breeders that raise/breed more than just Labradors are usually motivated by profit and are not true    "Labrador"people. We devote full time care to our dogs; not just what is left over from other "businesses". We do not recommend breeders with side businesses nor extensive familial responsibilities that can interfere with proper raising and socialization of puppies. Poorly executed websites with bad grammar and myriad misspelled words are also signs of an uneducated breeder. Ask to see the home that Labradors are raised in; house trailers do not support the active lifestyle for Labradors!! PLEASE make sure that your breeder understands coat color and genetic issues...some uneducated "breeders" even lump light yellow puppies in  with "Silvers"!! Very light yellow coats (that are simply described as white for ease of identification) are an acceptable and desireable AKC coat color while "Silvers" are not. If a breeder cannot understand this simple concept, what else may they be mistaken about in their breeding program"? Beware

COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH GUARANTEE

  We hope that you are well pleased with the new addition to your family. We take great pride in our breeding program and are confident that we have produced the finest animals in temperament and conformation possible. Unlike other White Labrador breeders, we do extensive Health Certifications on every Labrador in our program, including OFA Hips, Elbows, and Heart, and EIC, CNM and PRA-Prcd. You never have to guess if the puppies we bring into this world are healthy and sound. They are SUPERLATIVE representatives of the "gentleman's gun dog"; never hyper, driven nor unruly. We believe that by using superlative researched breeding stock we are doing our best to lessen the occurrence of hereditary (controllable) defects. This is why we can offer the best guarantee available for our White Labradors; we are that confident in our dogs. All puppies are sold as pets.
Provided your White Labrador puppy is not altered (spayed/neutered) before 14 months of age, If your puppy is diagnosed by OFA/CERF with hereditary heart disease, hereditary hip dysplasia or hereditary eye disease at age two, we would like to provide you with a new puppy of equal quality and value at our earliest opportunity.  

Our Health Guarantee does not cover vaccinations, veterinary costs, regular worming (although we de-worm at 2, 3, 4 and 6 weeks AND have our vet perform a full health check and fecal before adoption, retained worm larvae can activate during times of even light stress, such as a new environment and non-heriditary conditions are unforseeable)
or training costs. These costs are the direct result of responsible dog
ownership and should be expected and planned for prior to getting a puppy.

All puppies are sold as pets. All puppies  are   AKC LIMITED  REGISTRATION  which means that puppies resulting from a breeding are ineligible for AKC registration, and entry into AKC sponsored events is restricted. All puppies will remain AKC Limited Registration unless PRIOR (to a deposit being accepted) arrangements have been made with Idlewild Retrievers in writing.  We take the bloodlines, pedigree and conformation of our dogs VERY seriously; we DO NOT allow our puppies to be sold with Full Registration except in very specific instances; a breeder we know, co-owners, etc. Allowing a Limited Registration puppy to be bred, is a violation of our trust and ethics. When we sell a puppy to a family purporting to be a "pet home", and then find out of breeding intent after NO mention of this possibility in any prior correspondence, it is very frustrating. Only puppy mills sell all their pups on Full registration, or even the majority of them. We DO NOT condone this!!

We do now require that you register your puppy's microchip with the AKC CAR via the paperwork included in your puppy packet.

We STRONGLY recommend that your new White Labrador puppy be kept on his/her Nu-Vet supplement until they are at least 18 months old. We cannot control environment nor food choices with new families, and this is the best way to combat allergies, dry skin and growth issues. 

We STRONGLY recommend that your new White Labrador be fed a super-premium Human Grade dog food, like the recommended Life's Abundance. You will receive a sample bag in your Puppy packet; it is also recommended to have a bag ready fo when your puppy comes home; a Life's Abundance New Puppy Pack is also available for even more savings and extra pampering for your new puppy!

Click here to read the OFA standard for genetic testing. All reputable breeders of White Labradors will be performing these  tests on all breeding stock before breeding.

 We know this White Labrador puppy will bring you a lifetime of happiness, and we expect you to do the same for the puppy.. We are always just a phone call away.  We also are happy to help with Health issues or questions from people who did not choose an Idlewild Labrador, and are now struggling with ear infections, hot spots, aggressiveness, hyperactivity and/or joint issues. We get daily emails from people with poorly-bred (but just as loved!) Labradors whose "breeders" are now hard to contact and are in need of extra care. We will always try our best to answer any questions or help in any way we can to improve a Labrador's life.

In the best interest of our puppies we are very careful about
preventing the transmission of diseases to them.
Therefore as a precaution no one is allowed to touch or handle
any of our puppies until the week of puppy pick up, after one round of vaccinations.
 We take every precaution
 to make sure that our puppies are not exposed
to any kinds of disease or parasites that you may carry on your
shoes or even on your hands.
This way all of our buyers have the comfort of knowing that their
puppies have the best possible care and protection that they can get.
Also we "never" allow any other dogs or animals around our kennels.
Another precaution for our puppies.
We are more than happy for you to visit our kennel and view
our dogs and puppies. We just ask that you respect our
policies..in the best interest of our puppies.
